It seems that Google released their new browser Chrome at a bad time as everyone is so enthusiastic on finding out the issues and errors with it. First it was the Terms of Service that made such a hype around the technology world that Google was forced to update the Terms of Service hours after they released the software.
Now security researchers had found another issue in the form of buffer overflow vulnerability, which researchers says that could enable remote attackers to take control of a users computer completely. This issue is found as the result of a boundary error when the “Save As” menu item in the browser. If the page which is being saved contains malicious content, the browser could cause a stack-based overflow error, which eventually might allow hackers to put malicious code on users machine.
Remote attackers can create a web page with malicious code and if a user saves this page, this downloads malicious code into user machine and the hacker can have complete access to that system. This was one of the errors found in the browser by security researchers. Anothr vulnerability, that was revealed earlier was a carpet bombing glitch, which is caused by the underlying user agent Safari 3.1.
Researchers also said that as this is a Beta version of the browser, these vulnerabilities were expected and that all these issues will be solved when the final version is out. Also as this is in Beta stage the security threat to users will be less as much less people are using it.
Better not to use it for your daily surfing and browsing, as no one knows what comes next. Lets hope that Google will be able to deliver a final version that will make everyone happy.
